Toy Story 3 TOY STORY 3

With voices by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Ned Beatty, Michael Keaton, Estelle Harris

Written by Michael Arndt, John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton & Lee Unkrich
Directed by Lee Unkrich

One of the biggest animated hit franchises of all time puts a very good third (and seemingly final) chapter cap to this generation-crossing movie-making triumph.

Across a decade and a half many have grown up with Toy Story since its first breakthrough in 1995 as one of the first successful feature length digitally animated movies. Woody, Buzz and all the others are back, with a few additions. In this chapter, Andy is all grown up and off to college, no longer a kid playing with his toys. The toys are facing a new dilemma – will they get retired and stored in the attic, or thrown out? A mishap has them ending up in the chuck-out pile, and they land at a daycare center where it seems to be the dream location for a toy, constantly being played with. But there is a sinister dictatorship amoung the settled toys, a living nightmare for Woody and the other newcomers. An escape plan needs to be hatched.
As with its first two chapters, this chapter is filled with action, humour and sincere sentiment.

While it's theatrical released was in 3D, for some reason its DVD version is only available in regular 2D (as with all South African releases up to this point).

Fun extras include the abstract Day & Night short which also screened before the movie in theatres, a look at the reunited voice artists and more.

PS. South African viewers will be glad to know local radio DJ personality Jeremy Mansfield got incorporated as a voice for one of the minor characters for the local release (as done before with the use of Heinz Winkler's song for the SA release of Treasure Planet's end credits).
